Do You Remember Me?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You heard me cry, I know you did,
but I am just a little kid.
You turned your back and walked away,
It’s not my problem, I heard you say.
You saw my scars with your own eyes,
but won’t admit what it implies.
You’re blinded by what others think,
you walked right by and did not blink.
You spoke my name but never knew
the suffering that I’ve gone through.
You didn’t care enough about me
to defend my right to humanity.
Why can’t you stop and lend a hand,
speak out for me and take a stand?
I am a child, why can’t you see,
that you were once a child like me?
Remember me each night, each day
and if you have the time to pray
ask God to end this violence,
the slaughter of our innocence.
